Tax, Money & NI for the confused

Booking Form
What to bring;

  • Something write notes on
  • An idea of what you've earned
  • Any burning questions you need answering/exploring

The aim of the workshop is for you to end feeling a little calmer about the Tax situation, I don't expect you to all be financial experts.  Some of you may still be scared of the whole situation.  What I would like is for everyone to be proud of the job they have decided to do and that YOU are a professional business.

A word from our Paul - Finance Wiz of TBN.

As a performer, co-founder and now finance manager for Theatre By Numbers I have gathered a wealth of information about being self-employed and annually brave the dreaded self-assessment forms for not just myself but other artists.  My experiences have shown me that there are regular questions and confusions surrounding our country’s tax system, a system that seems to be even more confusing and alien to the art industry.  So this workshop has been designed to tackle some of the more common issues surrounding this area of our business and giving the tools to find out where you can find the answers.  The system changes regularly and every person’s business is unique but together I’m sure we can find a way that works for you and what you do.

What will be covered in the workshop

  • Becoming Self-Employed: Why and what it means
  • Income: What you need to keep
  • Expenses: What is an expense
  • Self-Assessment: An Overview
  • PAYE: What happens when you have an'other' job
  • National Insurance: What you pay

Our Next Workshop is TBC

Some refreshments shall be provided.
