A Dolls House - A Review by Amy Dee

I went to see A Dolls House last Wednesday at the Royal Exchange in Manchester, I hadn't read the play before I went so wasn't sure what to expect even though I know it is a play you 'should' read. I love the Royal Exchange and as soon as I sat down I was intrigued by the set and how lovely the furniture was to set the scene in the house. The play itself was fantastic I was totally gripped all the way through, it was funny as well as heart warming. After reading the back story I can see why the play was such a controversy back in the day. The best part about the play was the actress, Cush Jumbo who played the leading lady Nora, she played the character incredibly well and really portrayed all the emotions of the storyline, one minute she was a funny and slightly crazy woman, especially her dance with the tambourine  by the end of the play she was a strong independent female and we as the audience really went along with her and her journey.I would recommend this play to you all, it is a great watch with some amazing performances and as an actress it has made me want to perform on the Royal Exchange Stage even more.
